Meaning Behind MoonstoneMom

I’ve had a few people ask why I chose MoonstoneMom as my site name, so I figured I would share with you guys. Let’s start with the history, meanings and uses behind the stone itself.

Moonstone has been used for nearly two thousand years in Roman jewelry and has always been a sacred stone in India. Moonstone has held a very special meaning with lovers, women, travelers, for personal growth, and divination.

The stones’ strong connection to the moon, reminds us that as the moon waxes and wanes, everything is part of a cycle of change. Moonstone can help us through personal changes, for hidden beneath it’s pearly veil, lies our own hidden truths. This reason is why it has been known as a talisman for our inward journey, one we must take if we are ever to truly know and love ourselves.

A few other powers it holds include:

-promotes intuition

-aids in personal growth

-strengthens inner peace

-provides protection and hope

Moonstone has a strong connection to the feminine energy and holds many benefits for the the reproductive system, childbirth, hormone balance, and more. It is also known to be used as a gift between lovers symbolizing passion, and as protection for travelers.

Now that you know a little about the moonstone itself, I’d like to point out what it means to me. I am a true believer in the importance of personal growth and finding the answers we seek within ourselves and I love that Moonstone represents this. It is a reminder to always look within and continue to change and grow. It is also a reminder to me that, like the moon, the only thing constant in life, is change. Always be ready to accept that and be able to adapt by looking inward to find the strength and courage needed in life.

Self love and acceptance is so important. Over time, people, circumstances, and your environment can begin to influence your thoughts and actions. But I find it so necessary to take the regular journey inward to remember who you are and to stay true to yourself.

Moonstone is my own little reminder about this and I look forward to sharing my constant, and ever changing journey with you here at MoonstoneMom.
